Escape

Striving to escape
The heavy weight of the world
Is not that easy

Maybe you're fleeing
Your future; the changes it holds
Wishing for the same

Nobody likes pain
Departure, despair, and death
Too often appear

Pressure to succeed
In school, and all that others see
What you do is judged

Escape can't be found
In Las Vegas or New York
Don't just run away

Temporary things
Money, beer, drugs, your false love
Grant pleasure, then fade

What are you left with?
Gaping emptiness inside
A hole in your soul

Then you ask, what now?
I'm still stuck with my troubles
Nothing has happened

Like Batman once said
It's the darkest before dawn
The sun'll come up soon

Meanwhile, be thankful
Treasure the blessings you have
Enjoy while you can

It's impossible
To avoid adversity
John Calvin is right

True escape is found
At the end of the tunnels
That your trials are

There are no shortcuts
The experience you gain
Is invaluable

If you do not try
How will you ever succeed?
Be brave and step out

Perseverance is
What will get you through the tough times
Keep after the light

Believe in yourself
Because you have the power
To make your own way
